The Council advocates that LGBT, intersex and other minority populations be included in the full range of human rights, health, economic empowerment and development assistance policies that the United States carries out abroad. We work with USAID to integrate LGBT and intersex community needs into U.S. development priorities, and to guide the Agency’s oversight efforts in this area. Our members monitor compliance with regulations prohibiting USAID contractors from discriminating against LGBT or other minority communities when providing taxpayer-funded goods and services. We urge the Millennium Challenge Corporation to ensure that investments in foreign infrastructures and other needs are respectful of the equality and inclusion goals at the heart of U.S. foreign policy. And we advocate that the Treasury Department reflect and integrate LGBT and intersex inclusion goals across U.S. government engagement with regional development banks and the World Bank.
