Organizations wishing to be considered for membership in the Council for Global Equality must have:
- A mission primarily oriented toward progress on international human rights, foreign policy, and/or LGBT rights;
- Programs focused on advancing these goals and permanent staff with responsibility for these issues; and
- Direct interest in influencing federal U.S. government policy on these goals,including through organizational personnel and capacity.
Organizations are expected to participate in all face-to-face meetings, as well as phone meetings of the full Council. Additionally, members should contribute to the work of the Council through active participation in one or more policy goals throughout any given year. The Council’s staff is pleased to work on organizational members’ relevant programs, conferences and meetings, but participation should be reciprocal in Council activities.
To help subsidize the costs of bringing Council members together in Washington twice a year, membership in the Council requires annual dues.
